Last Tuesday, our School Choir participated in the Reigate and Redhill Music Festival, competing against Reigate St. Mary’s Preparatory and Choir school and Micklefield Preparatory School. The standard of singing across all schools was wonderful but St. Francis of Assisi School were victorious on the day and overall winners of the Junior Choir Section. The children sang ‘Lift His Name’, the music composed by Mr Szymczyk, and a rendition of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Heaven Help Us All’. The adjudicator, Karen Gibson, an award-winning choir conductor, having worked alongside Gareth Malone and other dignitaries such as Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, Mr Bill Clinton (and recently confirmed that she will be singing at the Royal Wedding) described the children’s performance as ‘Outstanding’.

Congratulations to all the children and an enormous thank you to Mr Szymczyk for directing and  preparing the children’s performance so well! The choir have been invited to sing alongside all other  finalists at the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill next Thursday.
